FY 2008 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Application Period: Applications Currently Being Accepted Until March 1, 2008 The EMPG program provides resources to assist State and local governments to sustain and enhance all-hazards emergency management capabilities. States have the opportunity to use EMPG funds to further strengthen their ability to support emergency management activities while simultaneously addressing issues of national concern as identified in the National Priorities of the National Preparedness Guidelines.

FY 2008 Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) Application Period: Applications Currently Being Accepted Until May 1, 2008 A core mission of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is to enhance the ability of State, local and tribal governments to prepare, prevent, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks and other disasters. The Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) is a primary funding mechanism for building and sustaining national preparedness capabilities. HSGP is comprised of four separate grant programs:
- Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI)
- State Homeland Security Program (SHSP)
- Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program (LETPP)
- Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS)
- Citizen Corps Program (CCP)

FY 2008 UASI Nonprofit Security Grant Program Application Period: Applications Currently Being Accepted Until May 1, 2008 The FY2008 NSGP provides funding support for target-hardening activities to nonprofit organizations that are deemed at high risk of a potential terrorist attack. While this funding is provided specifically to high-risk nonprofit organizations, the program seeks to integrate nonprofit preparedness activities with broader State and local preparedness efforts. It is also designed to promote coordination and collaboration in emergency preparedness activities among public and private community representatives, State and local government agencies, and Citizen Corps Councils.

Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program (AFG) The DHS provides the AFG grant to Fire Departments and Non-Affiliated EMS organizations. The AFG program helps firefighters and other first responders obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards. Competitive Training Grant Program (CTGP) The CTGP program awards funds to competitively selected applicants to develop and deliver innovative training programs for high priority national homeland security training needs. Eligible applicants include state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, national associations, higher education institutions, non-profit organizations, and private sector businesses.
