ETC Announces the Award of a Contract from the National Fire Academy of South Korea for an Advanced Disaster Management Simulator (ADMS™)
February 28, 2005
SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Environmental Tectonics Corporation (Amex: ETC) ("ETC" or the "Company") has been selected by the South Korean National Fire Academy (NFA) to provide a virtual, reality- based Advanced Disaster Management Simulator (ADMS™) system for training firefighters in South Korea.

One major unique feature of ETC's ADMS™ is the capability to provide interactive, real-time training to entire teams of students, all working within the same scenario, which has become a proven method of promoting excellent coordination among and between fire-rescue teams and other response agencies. The specific configuration selected by NFA consists of twenty stations, configured in four units of one Instructor Station and four team- training stations. The flexibility of this ADMS™-Team configuration will allow the NFA to conduct training of entire response teams at all levels of the Korean National Standards, including first response, reinforced response and disaster response.

The ADMS™ Team, which will be installed at the NFA in Chenoa, South Korea in December 2005, includes a 200-square-mile geo-typical visual environment, allowing training in structural firefighting (from small complex buildings to major high-rise and industrial fires), hazardous material incidents, and major road traffic accidents. ETC's advanced Scenario Generator will allow the NFA to develop an unlimited number of training scenarios, from small, simple incidents to major mass-casualty disasters.

As part of the contract, directorial staff from the NFA have visited ETC's ADMS™ Innovation Center in Orlando, Florida for an intensive two-day training course on NIMS, the National Incident Management System, a comprehensive and standardized Incident Command framework used by U.S. first responders. Developed by the Department of Homeland Security, NIMS integrates best practices for multi-jurisdictional responders at all levels to work together more effectively and efficiently to manage incidents no matter what the cause, size or complexity including catastrophic acts of terrorism and disasters.

William F. Mitchell, ETC's President and CEO, stated, "With the receipt of this contract from NFA, ETC is solidified as the world's leading supplier of interactive, real-time, virtual reality disaster response systems."

ADMS™ is now in use at several major firefighting and emergency response training facilities worldwide, as well as in several major U.S. Airports. Visit the ETC's ADMS™ Web site at http://www.ADMSTraining.com.

ETC designs, develops, installs and maintains aircrew training systems, public entertainment systems, process simulation systems (sterilization and environmental), clinical hyperbaric systems, environmental testing and simulation systems, and related products for domestic and international customers.
